In speaking of the teaching of regional languages in French schools, a Professor at the University of Paris III in 1975 questions " … is it wise or opportune to urge little French children towards a bi- or trilingualism turned not toward the future of the planet, but towards the past of a little country?"
Has hardly been questioned so far the consequences on the spirit of the nation, who are you if your native language or your ancestry native language is a "baraguoin", a little language not worth learning, what does it say of your heritage, what does it say about the soul, heart and mind of your ancestry, why were they so little, so insignificant than nothing of what made everything they were has deserved to survive and what have been the consequences of the answers to these questions on yesterday and today's generations?
The french state ought to be held responsible but this conversation which should be taking place is very difficult as the reaction to it from french opinion leaders, the Press, as well as politicians are most of the time rather weird to say the least.
