For now the text was adopted in Plenary/Strasbourg on 16 June 2010, it was, is enforceable. Has it been amended, not that I know so behind every decision to not enforce it there are officials involved in the fraud and it justifies a full scale investigation on corruption charges.
Put ie that way... He's a person of interest in the ongoing investigation as to why the mandatory labeling has not been enforced in the French industry whether or not the mandatory guidelines were or not enforced elsewhere in the Union being a different investigation.
What do u mean?
This where we stand right now, it is unclear at this sage who and when the the go ahead to infringe the EU regulations came from but clearly it looks that the  former French Agriculture Secretary has been involved. Regarding the legislation,

Article 7
Fair information practices
1. Food information shall not be misleading ▌, particularly:
(a) in that the description and/or pictorial representation of the food could
mislead the consumers with regard to its nature, identity, properties,
composition, individual ingredients and their quantity in the product,
durability, country of origin or place of provenance, method of manufacture
or production;

below is the previous annex 3

2. MEAT PRODUCTS FROM SPECIAL SLAUGHTER                Particulars
2.1 Meat and meat products derived from                                    ‘Meat from slaughter
animals that have not been stunned                                                    without stunning’
prior to slaughter, i.e. have been
ritually slaughtered

Annexe 3 isn't involved in the horse meat scandal but allows the tracking of fraudsters and accomplices within Govs at least it will give us some leads on the extent of the corruption. Executives in the industry have made clear they had "orders" to infringe the regulation.

Alright but when you have a conflict between the consumer at large (in this case food labeling) and the industry.... can the Gov get involved with the industry in setting the standards and labeling content that fit the consumers demand?
Federalist 46 says what, ..../... They must be told that the ultimate authority, wherever the derivative may be found, resides in the People alone; and that it will not depend merely on the comparative ambition or address of the different governments, whether either, or which of them, will be able to enlarge its sphere of jurisdiction at the expense of the other. Truth no less than decency requires, that the event in every case should be supposed to depend on the sentiments and sanction of their common constituents.../...
leaving a possibility for the state gov within the EU regulation on labeling to address the consumer's concerns through some red tape as long as ultimately the constituents validate the red tape content regardless of the level it was defined?
You can't not with the French Gov since they don't have a conscience something you can find from the early stage of the American Revolution hasn't yet reach the French so called thinkers, even when the EU take major steps to improve the Contemporary Perspectives of the Native People of Corsica, Euskadi, Breizh and others, they haven't been able to deal with their responsibilities in a civilized way....
No, I meant by helping get involved with an industry in an area the industry should deal within and be regulated through the consumer's choice and by the market
No, no, no ... that was Kirsten about should or not the Gov get involved in helping when she said why she is liberal BUT that is in the Federalist, give me a minute

For how much what r the odds
"At Allianz’s asset management division, which includes Pimco, total funds under administration rose 12 per cent to €1.85bn by the end of 2012."
That's out FT this afternoon but I think there is a problem with the number... since as I recall, last September Pimco only had $1.92 trillion in assets under management.

Markit mentions following the reading of the advanced indexes that the rate of GDP contraction for 2013 first quarter may equal 2009 1st quarter with a reading of - 1.3%. Marginal expansion still foreseen later in the year (More here)

Markit will be out tomorrow morning for the eurozone.
Just watched Art and he mentioned a possibility that inflation isn't a worry anymore for some actors moving away from commodities. It crossed my mind that the move may give way to a return of deflation pressures solving for a while the debate over easing and exit strategy. Inflation anticipation is lowering widely across many economies and has prompt many central banks to state their willingness to act, Oslo today didn't say otherwise after the Kiwis did, was it yesterday?
But police can't be everywhere at the same time.... and behind the door of every home.
No, what do u mean? I bet it is an overwhelming 95% that think that. Tell me just that, what do u think you are doing when you elect the Sheriff if not exactly that, if you didn't believe it takes a good guy with a gun to stop bad guys with guns, why bother with police.
Sorry but it isn't true. People that were outraged at "it takes a good guy with a gun to stop a bad guy with a gun" think exactly that but were "outraged " because it came from the NRA...
Why?

To be honest a couple of companies will end before court, prominent political leaders who a year ago were supporting the idea that it was ok to infringe the EU regulations and labeling guidelines as needed for some dirty political cooking are the true responsible for this renewed food crisis.
  1. For failing to implement the EU legislation and labeling guideline in due time
  2. For failing to adopt a piece of legislation to make it a crime
  3. For failing to engage with the Food Industry  and if necessary help set the standards of within quality control and the needed guidelines for the personnel  and management of these companies to reach high standards of ethics in the workplace and restore the consumer's confidence.
No wonder though they won't go to court  and they will even eventually try to buy themselves some renewed popularity by pointing fingers.... Won't work with me.

Think you will like it, I did, Horsemeat Crisis To Widen, Findus Backer Says

There was no breaking of the law say Officials in Romania :
Iulian Cazacut, the general manager of the local Doly-Com plant which is the biggest in Romania and supplies all its major supermarket chains , said he had been cleared of any wrong-doing.
"We were investigated." he said.
"We didn't export meat directly to France but yes we have partners in Netherlands.

"A hundred per cent of our exports were registered correctly. We proved that. We are clean."

Olimpiu Soneriu, the general director of the Carmolimp abatoir in Brasov, about 80 miles north of Bucharest, also denied any wrong doing.

"During 2012 we have not delivered any beef so there is no reason for it to incorrectly labeled," he said.

Dummy... It isn't a Swedish company... where did get that????
Must read
EfeedLink - July 24th 2008 - Lion Capital acquires Foodvest Group
EfeedLink - October 3rd 2012 - Findus gets USD 350 million Investment
I wasn't sure that's all but it is TriPointe Capital Partners, I could recall a group of investors had joined Lion but wasn't sure who jumped on the board.

Wouldn't bet on it. Lion Capital is more no jokes please than tubby funky funny so... depending on the type of court action, it will at some point come to the core of the problem which is that ultimately in charge of making sure the legislation adopted on the provision of food information to consumers is enforced on the French industry is the French state that will have to demonstrate the type of control that are in place and how the EU legislation is implemented. By failing to do so its responsibility may be well engaged if the known loose enforcement to say the least of the EU legislation on food information to the consumer that already lead to the previous Halal meat scandal has this time lead to a wider fraud.
I know Lion is associated on that one. What do u have?
well rock it.... just kidding
For a complete information on what are the legal obligations in the food sector, visit urgently  "European Parliament legislative resolution of 16 June 2010 on the proposal for a regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on theprovision of food information to consumers"

Article 48
Entry into force
This Regulation shall enter into force on the twentieth day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.
Article 14(1) shall apply from ...*.
Articles 29 to 33 shall apply from …(45) except in the case of foods labelled by food business operators with, on ...(46) *, less than 100 employees and whose annual turnover and/or annual balance sheet total does not exceed EUR 5 millionwhere they shall apply … (47) **.
This Regulation shall be binding in its entirety and directly applicable in all Member States.

Article 7
Fair information practices
1. Food information shall not be misleading ▌, particularly:
(a)  in that the description and/or pictorial representation of the food could
mislead the consumers with regard to its nature, identity, properties,

A must visit to these pages :
  1. ttp://www.europarl.europa.eu/sides/getDoc.do?type=TA&reference=P7-TA-2010-0222&language=EN#BKMD-15
f. ‘ingredient’ means any substance, including food additives and food enzymes, and any ingredient of a compound ingredient, used in the manufacture or preparation of a food and contained in the finished product, even if in an altered form ▌;
g. ‘place of provenance’ means the place, country or region where the products or agricultural ingredients are wholly obtained, in accordance with Article 23(2) of Regulation (EEC) No 2913/92;
h. ‘compound ingredient’ is an ingredient that is itself the product of more than one ingredient;

    2. REGULATION (EU) No 1169/2011 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCILof 25 October 2011on the provision of food information to consumers
(amending Regulations (EC) No 1924/2006 and (EC) No 1925/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council, and repealing Commission Directive 87/250/EEC, Council Directive 90/496/EEC, Commission Directive 1999/10/EC, Directive 2000/13/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council, Commission Directives 2002/67/EC and 2008/5/EC and Commission Regulation (EC) No 608/2004)

Reading is a bit boring but there isn't much room for a loophole in the EU legislation and more significant the legislation in place adopted at the EU level should have lead to a fair level of transparency for the consumer. What shows so far the new French meat scandal is the legislation on labeling has been and is infringed on a regular basis without any reaction from the French Gov or Brussels and worse the previous French meat scandal over Hallal meat sold to unaware consumers a year ago sent out the worse possible message, welcome to dodgers, the French meat industry has very low ethics when it comes to consumer information, the Gov doesn't really mind and Brussels do very little. The result shouldn't come as a surprise, when a Gov leads the way to infringe the EU legislation on labeling, the consequences were to be expected, it was a direct invitation launched to any would be fraudster, if you need low and loose ethics and poor EU legislation oversight on meat labeling for the consumer, come to France we have the industry and Gov with the right standards for you to operate free of Northern Europe painful red tape.

mardi 5 février 2013

U fancy some reading not a bad start is Contemporary Perspectives on the Native Peoples of Pampa, Patagonia, and Tierra del Fuego: Living on the Edge in between two trades. By the way, seen Art, don't miss today, he had a word about his early days on the floor. Good'd Times!
The Indian Nations will see some major long overdue land and natural ressources restitutions. The trouble making has been lasting for far too long running from repeated bankrupcy, financial mishandling of natural ressources and harrasment of the Indian minorities so guess what...
Well, did you expect something different really? In the next twenty years Argentina will have very different borders but the guy doesn't know yet, that's all.

I have Markit was dreadful...
It ends up hidden but it looks like that before u place the back of it

what for?

What do u mean I just checked
Nope but if all goes alright it should be fine. Pessah ends at the same time than the Easter break, when is ur flight
Well, refusing to meet with the representatives of the Falkland Islands government says a lot about the kind of relations you are willing to have with local government generally speaking but it shouldn't come as a surprise as well as the outrageous "colonist" vocabulary used to speak of the Falklanders when you know the situation of the Mapuche nation, the Kolla nation, the Toba nation, the Guaraní nation, the Wichi nation, the Diaguita-Calchaquí nation, the Mocoví nation and many others not to mention the native nations the central gov has definitely destroyed starting with the Selknam. The languages of the Diaguita, Tehuelche, and Selknam nations are now extinct or virtually extinct. Did it lead to a major culture overhaul similar to the EU Charter for National Minorities, a move towards a similar convention such as the FCNM to protect the National Minorities rights and has any attempt to give them land and a fair share of the natural resources to allow them to sustain their culture and sovereignty. To all of the above the answer is NO!
It is absolutely shameful, disgusting and outrageous to see the very same kind of gov daring speaking of colonist to designate the good people of the Falklands which happened to be guilty of only one thing, to live on Islands where their ancestry established themselves without killing or destroying anyone or any culture or language.
Well not very moderate but what do u say?
There will be a referendum. Daily Mail. U wanna it.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2271794/UK-accuses-Argentina-fanatical-Falklands.html#axzz2Jmvl6LmF
U r mad.
I know everybody is Scott except the High Landers....!
No kidding. It is Scotland voting without the Scott. Insane!
I don't know about that. They don't get it really. They look at the Falklands like it is some stones in the ocean, they don't understand they are people there for several generations and whether or not they call "the stones " the Malvinas it doesn't change the fact that if they were serious about the sovereignty of the Islands they would have a status project for the nation living there given the cultural and linguistic differences with Argentina mainland other than throw them in the ocean.
Why should it be a surprise? Given the the tracked records of relations with the native nations living within Argentinian borders, it was a surprise they had accepted to begin with any talks with the Falklanders at the table. It is a culture thing really.
