Iulian Cazacut, the general manager of the local Doly-Com plant which is the biggest in Romania and supplies all its major supermarket chains , said he had been cleared of any wrong-doing.
"We were investigated." he said.
"We didn't export meat directly to France but yes we have partners in Netherlands.
"A hundred per cent of our exports were registered correctly. We proved that. We are clean."
Olimpiu Soneriu, the general director of the Carmolimp abatoir in Brasov, about 80 miles north of Bucharest, also denied any wrong doing.
"During 2012 we have not delivered any beef so there is no reason for it to incorrectly labeled," he said.
