I don't think it is necessary since everyone agreed that what took place in Mariupol on May the 9th was a turning point making the partition the most likely outcome. The culture gap and shock reached with that military offensive on WW2  civilian parades an unprecedented scale best illustrated with "PRESIDENT OF RUSSIA VLADIMIR PUTIN: Good afternoon, colleagues. Welcome to the Moscow Kremlin.
We are meeting today on the eve of Victory Day – a very special holiday for all of us.
In the years of the Great Patriotic War, our fathers and grandfathers together routed Nazism - an evil and merciless foe.  They defended their homeland, maintained its sovereignty and independence and freed Europe from slavery and violence. We paid dearly for the victory of May 1945, and we will always cherish the memory of those who gave their lives for their country’s freedom, we will cherish their heroism, unity and solidarity in the struggle against a common enemy." (Full text here), no one was representing Ukraine at this table regardless of today's difficulties while a significant part of Ukraine was associating themselves with every word said on this occasion, the following day, parades celebrating faced armoured vehicles and gun fire from those that do not celebrate that day that they see as a defeat setting the future course of events.
The May 25th Ukraine Presidential election was May be a last opportunity if a candidate with a lot of wisdom was elected and able to reverse all the damage done, strong enough to say that Ukraine is no ground for some sort of pay back for Abkhazia and Ossetia, only the long term interests of all communities of Ukraine are considered but the last few days show there is no wisdom at all, the worse is the most likely. Although at least the OSCE report on Transnistria will hopefully produce some results.

mardi 27 mai 2014

I don't know about that but whatever happens in a presidential campaign happens under the candidate's authority...
U r back. What has happened... battery...:-)) a true geek...
Not sure what the French law says but forged accounting is common I used to complain at the bank I worked for about it and the Courts know about forged accounting of most management companies of the housing sector but nothing happens so and most people know so you know it is culture, it can be summarized with an idiom "Il n'y a pas more d'homme" meaning no one died...

Well nothing new we always disagree on legal issues anyway.
That's because it is a culture thing really. Forgery is kind of alright, they forge stuff on a daily basis and when you complain about it they will tell you to not be so fussy, it is no big deal.
Now since the company in charge of a range of events during the presidential campaign has admitted the forgery of invoices allegedly under coercion to reduce the presidential candidate spending and allow the accounting and payment by the associated political party what you have is a criminal case if the incriminated documents have been used in a scheme which ultimate goal was to obtain more than 11 millions from the tax payer.
No there is a fact he outspent his rivals and the spending went over the legal limit. It ultimately lead to the rejection of his accounting for the presidential campaign but there isn't anything at this stage to support there was an intent... to outspend his rivals.
U will never be my lawyer that is speculation
U don't know how do u establish the intent? You said he intentionally outspent his rivals... how do u know and don't tell me the amount can only be explained by a will leading to establish the intent
No way...
Speculation. That is speculation. U don't know. Based on?

lundi 26 mai 2014

So what... regardless of whether or not the company forged the documents under coercion or not, have the forged documents been used knowing they were to reduce the presidential candidate campaign spending and the associated political party invoiced for these amounts to allow the payment therefore used in the political party accounting, the answer to both is yes so whether or not coercion is controversial it doesn't change the motives and intention in the use of the incriminated documents which leads to the conclusion there was a criminal scheme to defraud the tax payer to a maximum amount of over 11 millions euros.
Just speculation at this stage... the only known facts are the company has admitted forging documents among which the labelling of a number of invoices representing a total of or close to 11 millions euros. The company should have invoiced the Sarkozy presidential campaign and instead invoiced the associated political party.
The criminal scheme which motivated the forgery aimed at hiding the spending of 11 millions for the presidential campaign amount to an attempted fraud of 11,62 millions representing the maximum amount the candidates can expect from the treasury.
These are the only known facts.
:-))) no kidding! U got it wrong, it's not the amounts that were forged. The company has admitted forging the labelling to get paid as their counterpart in the deal working for both the candidate and the associated political party made the request, the forgery being to make possible the criminal scheme to defraud the tax payer.
There r no counts and m not not even sure forgery is a crime, rather common stuff
What do u mean....
Don't know anything... just what they said about it. The company involved in Sarkozy 's presidential campaign has admitted forging a wide range of documents mainly invoices that were used in a massive fraud to obtain from the taxpayer the payment of the incriminated invoices through a legal scheme set by the legislator to pay for the costs of electoral campaign for candidates scoring over 5%.
Although the criminal scheme to defraud the taxpayer has been a failure since the French Constitutional Court had rebuffed Sarkozy 's accounting for his campaign.
Tonight a guy involved in both financial matters, Sarkozy 's presidential campaign and the political party associated, has denied candidate Sarkozy or the political party associated leaders to have ever asked how much was spent during the campaign or how it was funded. Given the attempted fraud and the incriminated forged documents amount to or very close to 11 millions euros, folks say it is impossible they have ignored the facts at the highest level.

It is to put it mild because I haven't seen the video or listened to the speech so I don't know if he called Hitler a liberator, it is a serious accusation, given the kind of second guessing fashion running and the easy Adolf alert some launch I did stick to the known controversy in Ukraine over how was at the time felt the WW2 events between the East and the West.
Yes that what I meant the idea that this kind of stuff is popular in Congress is shameful
Support doesn't mean blind support these two guys are supposed to be statesmen and quite frankly between the raid on a police station with armoured vehicular on a day civilian parades are expected and the Kherson appointed governor ambiguous speech over the Culture gap in the country and how the Ukrainian speaking part of the country looks at Germany's invasion in WW2 as liberating while the other half is celebrating the victory over Nazism lacks some wisdom when you are in charge of finding the right compromise that will allow to build the institutions to unite the country around a common project....
The first sign it is a turning point is business silent up to now is getting out of the woods as the escalation with the 9th has changed the conflict's nature. It is a terrible political mistake "Ukrainian mining and steel group of companies Metinvest which is owned by business tycoon Rinat Akhmetov urged Ukrainian leadership “to admit irreparable errors” and to stop a punitive operation in Donetsk Region in the southeast of the country. The statement made public by the Metinvest press service contains a demand to withdraw troops from Donetsk Region, including from the city of Mariupol. Metinvest also stated about formation of people’s militia from workers of metallurgical plants incorporated in the group.
“We urge you to give up large-scale clashes with use of armed forces, heavy military hardware and weapons in peaceful cities of Donbas [the main Ukrainian coalmining region]. We believe that Ukrainian troops and other armed people should leave the city immediately,” the document runs.
http://en.itar-tass.com/world/731131
It is difficult to assess immediately but the use of the armed forces and heavy weaponry in Mariupol on May 9th will be seen as a turning point in the stand off between Kyiv acting authorities and the Russian speaking communities of Ukraine South and South East with Kyiv loosing all its credibility as fit to run a country.
Up to that date, Kyiv stance to refuse to enter negotiations with "terrorists" or otherwise called "Russian activists" but ready to deal with law abiding representatives of the Russian speaking communities with promises of deals possible over the Russian language status, the Regions autonomy and understanding for the Culture gap, had little credibility among the population and many were afraid of deception from the authorities but still wanted to believe in a future within Ukraine through federalism and a compromise to respect every community culture and interest.
Mariupol's military operation shows otherwise. May 9th is for South and South East Russian speaking communities culture a very important date celebrating the victory and the end of the war against Nazi Germany, Kyiv knows everything there is to know about the symbol and its signification for these communities therefore the decision to go ahead with a heavy hand on Mariupol very very secondary objectives of a controversial military campaign the results show, a police station destroyed and more than 50 per cent of casualties being civilians on this special date exposing civilian processions celebrating show at least no wisdom whatsoever but probably much more and that is a total contempt for a culture and its people compromising the opportunity of a true and respectful dialogue.

samedi 10 mai 2014

If he is to then the questions can be what were the ground objectives in Mariupol that couldn't wait May 10th? Knowing the May 9th symbol for the Ukraine Russian speaking communities, what were the threats to the Ukraine national security and interests in Mariupol police station that could not wait 24 hours? What were the guidelines given to the intervening troops given the May 9th symbol on civilian security?
May be
Don't know yet as their server was down but I will support at the meeting that we will all have to face the consequences of the Mariupol deaths of civilians on May 9th, a day of celebration for the Russian communities. There wasn't any ground urgencies that couldn't be delayed by 24 hours to make sure no life would be at risk on that very special day for the Russian communities throughout Ukraine. A freeze for 24 hours of the military operation under way in the South East, if not enough to allow a de-escalation would have had the power to show the sacred character of the Russian speaking communities culture for the Kyiv authorities. Allowing destruction on that day, fighting and civilian deaths on such a special date will reinforce the sentiment the future of Ukraine is without the South East. At least a terrible stupid mistake or worse the will to precipitate a wider military conflict.
I know just kidding
alright they will be back, they land in Copenhagen on the 7th then drive to Narvik
no kidding, the court hearing is on June the 10th but I need a place to stay
no it is a culture thing I guess, do u have the documents now I mean for my case

Good, u guys watch it out. Footage I got so far confirm civilians with no weapon trying to stop tanks. To early to call but I am left under the impression that among the objectives of the operation in Mariupol today was damage as much as possible the road network throughout the city to harm the economy or leave behind as much destruction as possible making any degree of autonomy through federalism as costly and painful as possible.
No, it is the disproportionately use of tanks to officially restore order in a police station that looks suspect.

jeudi 8 mai 2014

Don't know still a little early things can change even if the mood was better this morning when for a couple of hours Donetsk and Luhansk before voting awaited Kiev acting authorities to decide on a freeze of military operations. It started well with "The Kiev authorities are ready to hold a peaceful dialogue with federalization supporters in Ukraine’s south-east in order to reconcile the conflict and avoid further victims. Deputy Secretary of Ukraine’s Council for National Security and Defense Viktoria Syumar made this statement on Thursday.
“Everyone is tired of war: both law enforcers and civilians. Therefore, where it is possible to solve the conflict through a dialogue, the Ukrainian authorities are ready to do this,” she is quoted as saying by Ukraine’s UNIAN news agency." (http://en.itar-tass.com/world/730860) but soon secretary of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council Andriy Parubiy told a media briefing on Thursday. “We will continue the operation. We are sure that it will be held successfully and will bring an expected effect,” he added (http://en.itar-tass.com/world/730870) it dampened the mood among the Donetsk council feelings about Kiev intentions towards the region. Added to the rumour (unchecked) that 4000 Right Sector militia men were on their way to Odessa and two small printing businesses vandalised in Donetsk it achieved to convince both Donetsk and Luhansk to go ahead with the planned referendums scheduled on Sunday. It looks a bit like one step up two down but for Kiev the risk to be involved in another Odessa grows as long as the so called punitive operations goes on and spread the feeling of lawlessness and encourage disaffected individuals to take matters in their own hands under wartime sense of impunity. Another event of that nature has the power to ignite a full scale civil war.

mercredi 7 mai 2014

Waiting to see if Kiev will hold its operations to give a chance to a de-escalation and dialogue. Soon to be the moment of truth, if heard the call to postpone the referendum and given Kiev answer with a freeze of military actions, there may be a good chance the legacy of those who died in Odessa will be to give peace an opportunity.

Second guessing is always a problem.... It is excessive to say that President Saakashvili needs a psychiatric assistance but his judgement and his analysts is biased by his personal emotions, feelings and resentment,a language you can easily find as well in Kiev for the very same reasons. It is difficult to say whether or not "The Russians" have a true historic responsibility in how leaders and some citizens of the former Soviet union countries feel about them and whether or not that kind of blame game can't help much rights now, a large part of his speech was a reminder of how he looks today at past events to explain how he feels.
Today's Russia pays and will continue to pay for decades to come the consequences of its passed as an empire keeping in mind it wasn't Russia or the Russians but the Soviet Union and score of non Russians of the former territories of the Soviet Union that were involved in the policies President Saakashvili incriminate.

Russia's policies today have much more to do with a decolonisation process the Soviet Union should be in charge of with limited collateral damage to its own core interests. Since the Soviet Union has disappeared too fast to accomplish the task, the biggest power of the Union ends up with it needing although an active cooperation as much as possible positive from other members of the dead Union to make it a successful process in the best interests of all the parties and the populations they share, that doesn't mean Russia as a party of a former empire cannot find useful talks with former empire countries that have experienced still experience for some difficult and complicated relations with their former partners.
How is it today

It is too early but the inflammatory language can only lead to more of that.
The photos owner claims " apparently set fire to hide the obvious signs of executions"

For now there are no confirmation from Odessa's authorities.
Yes fairly alright so far, they are gathering as many eye witness testimony as possible of the events before the building was set on fire. So far Itar's accounting of the story is right there were not two demonstrations that accidentally came across each other as reported by some media outlets but a march through Odessa aimed at affirming the Ukrainian character of the city that turned crazy as a number of participants of that march decided to raid a near by urban camp site style political meeting looking to inform and recruit support for a federalism project of Ukraine.
On the Transnistria presence at the camp, it is at an early stage of information gathering but the region suffers from isolation and is looking forward a solution and among these there is an interest to explore the possibility for Transnistria to join a Ukraine confederation( Switzerland style) or federation should the project to offer guarantees to the Russian speaking communities protecting their economic interests as well as culture and linguistic rights. After Crimea joining the Russian Federation, there is a pessimistic mood that such a possibility for the region is possible given the consequences, joining a Russian culture economic zone of Ukraine appeared to be the next best opportunity to break the isolation and share the experience they had of leaving within an hostile framework.

It looks to be Odessa's but it needs to be checked

Not yet but he should as they left today for Odessa so he will I guess later in the night. The word is to be cautious on roads as Itar reports 10 dead and a number of casualties in a village near Sloviansk "The villagers were said to have come to agreement with the gunmen who were supposed to fire their ammunition into the air and leave. However after several bursts of fire into the air the gunmen turned their weapons against the unarmed people.
Initial reports said that one person had been killed and several dozen wounded. Later, the number of casualties increased.
http://en.itar-tass.com/world/730336
Odessa, Itar reports
"Local mass media quoted a source in the Interior Ministry as saying that militants from the special task force battalions Vostok (East) and Shturm (Storm) clad in civilian clothes had been involved in the killings and beatings in Odessa. Reports said they were manned with nationalists ready for mass clashes and sponsored by Ukrainian oligarchs Igor Kolomoisky and Pyotro Poroshenko.
Odessa region prosecutor Igor Borshulyak said 46 people had been killed in the clashes and over 200 had requested medical attention, including 20 policemen."
http://en.itar-tass.com/world/730337
Situation is said to be very tense in the city, the next days will be dangerous.
Just wondering depending on what you do "The disturbance began in Odessa in the daytime on Friday with a mass brawl at Grecheskaya Street. It was instigated by football fans from Kharkov and Right Sector and Self-Defence radicals from Kiev, who decided to organize a march on Odessa streets. They provoked clashes with federalization supporters. Forcing them out, radicals set fire to a camp at Kulikovo Field where activists collected signatures to hold a referendum on federalization of Ukraine and the official status of the Russian language. Activists from the camp escaped to the nearby building of the regional House of Trade Unions, and radicals set fire to the building. When the fire reached the upper floors, many of the people there died from smoke. Others jumped from upper floors and died when falling. Those who survived were cruelly beaten by Kiev radicals with batons" this is the accounting of yesterday Odessa's confrontation and they would like confirmation, if possible eye witnes testimony of the surviving victims beating as well as the presence and involvement of Karhiv football club fans organisation in the fighting possibly in the arson of the building given I guess the highly improbable ignorance by Ukraine security of that presence in Odessa.
Don't know but when the checkpoints were closed he got a ride from Odessa to Crimea by sea and it works both ways so whatever the authorities do to prevent smuggling and borders crossing people in Crimea and in Russian towns near the border will join theirs to fight ans expect it to reach Transnistria quickly.
No, but it had to expected, people from Mariupol, Kherson or Rostov on Don have family members living in Odessa, Donetsk or  Crimea and they are not going to sit quietly at home opening the door to the most ugly kind of confrontation along culture lines, something Kiev acting authorities could not ignore and since they have the upper hand.... over Ukraine's security forces. They can't avoid accountability.

vendredi 2 mai 2014

A widespread fighting is on the cards now making almost inevitable the partition should the civilian casualties keep rising.
Here stream, trying to get some from Kramatorsk that came under fire earlier
Haven't had the time to look at it yet but if on the ground the situation continue to deteriorate and that is the course of events as Kiev made the choice of a confrontation rather than a negotiation with the East and South East, I guess these countries will soon argue of their wiseness... told u so... what amazed me most is to see that Yanukov governed a part of the country against the other and wasn't smart enough to sell his vision of the future to a bigger majority than just his that lead to his demise but his replacement is just about as smart making the exact same mistake playing the west and centre of the country against the East exploiting ethnic and culture divide to power the confrontation with all the risks associate.
As of yesterday Austria, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Greece, Hungary, Luxembourg, Malta, Portugal, and Spain were the EU countries opposed to a new round of sanctions. If it is confirmed that 38 civilians and counting have died following the arson of a building in Odessa by an organisation whether directly involved in the Kiev acting authorities or supported by it added to the military heavy-duty units elsewhere involved in clashes against civilians, the next big issue to resolve won't be what to do to sanction Russia but how to prevent the foreseeable bloodbath that is coming and what to do with the now dead on arrival Geneva agreement.
