If you take passions out of the equation what should do any politician and opinion leader. What u have is a political system that at some point in history adopted legislations abusing these populations and among the greatest example in europe of the misuse of power. What I haven't been unable to understand until now is why while most don't deny that it is and was wrong to bare people to learn their language, wrong to bare them from celebrating their culture, wrong to intervene in their economy to build "national champions" reducing the available employment and wealth locally, wrong to impose on them foreign legal standards to their common laws and wrong to not honor their heritage given the consequences on individuals and social networks, the reversal long overdue of these policies of an ugly passed always lights passions, a show of disproportionate intolerance and the greatest lack of understanding.
These policies of abuse were enforced with a lot of violence but everybody could agree they were policies of the passed and nothing can be done to change that but it is possible today starting with the EU Charter for Regional and Minority languages to enter, for the french state and the french population, a new era of relations with these nation's descent ending the policies that lead to so much silent disarray among these nations.
Don't archive this part(To be honest I find them very little excuse to pursue these policies and resist what so many other european countries have decided to fix and find very disturbing today's will to ban the debate on the wrong done to these nations).
